After one-hundred and thirty-four issues, the comic series Invincible is receiving the superhero movie treatment. On April 4th, 2017, The Hollywood Reporter (THR), broke the news.
Invincible, created by Robert Kirkman, the man who brought us The Walking Dead, will be directed, written, and produced by Seth Rogen (Sausage Party, The Interview, Preacher) and Evan Goldberg (Sausage Party, The Interview, Preacher). According to Borys Kit of THR, the film will be done for Universal along with Skybound Entertainment’s producers David Alpert, Bryan Furst, and Sean Furst, as well as Point Grey’s producer James Weaver. Kirkman is also set to produce.
In his interview with Kit, Kirkman had to say, “…we were waiting for the right team to partner with. That team has arrived!” In reference to Rogen and Goldberg, who began their work together on This Is The End in 2013, and The Interview in 2014. The duo then co-wrote and directed the pilot episode of another comic book adaptation, Preacher.
Invincible follows the story of Mark Grayson, a teenage superhero. A normal boy who gained superpowers at the age of 17, Grayson worked with his superhero father, Omni-Man, who served as his mentor. This is the adventure of a young boy becoming a man in a world with superpowers, robot armies, and real-world problems. Rogen and Goldberg’s take on this movie will bring fans of the series, and fans of their work to theaters.
