The pre-production of 20th Century Fox’s upcoming X-Men movie, New Mutants has been teased by the director Josh Boone. The movie is reported to make its theatrical debut release next year. It is based on the comic book team, New Mutants, which includes recent Xavier School graduates Magik, Wolfsbane, Mirage, Cannonball, Sunspot and Warlock as they learn how to control their powers and fight the villains like Demon Bear. There are also rumors that Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) will play the role of Rahne Sinclair, a.k.a. Wolfsbane, Anya Taylor-Joy (Split, The Witch) will play Illyana Rasputin, a.k.a. Magik. It will reportedly be a young adult style, but with a twist since it has been described as Stephen King meets John Hughes.
Josh Boone on his Instagram page has revealed that New Mutants will begin filming soon and has officially begun pre-production. The production began on Boone’s birthday, April 5th, and they started their work on the film with a double celebration.
Filming is rumored to start in May, so there is only one month left to finalize all the details and cast the actors. It’s now time to break down the script into individual scenes, create storyboards, identify all the locations, acquire props and costumes, decide on all the visual and special effects, and finally hire the cast and crew. Of course, a lot of this may already be done, but it just hasn’t been revealed yet.
