‘BABY DRIVER’ Trailer Recap/Breakdown: Volume Up and Pedal Down

Edgar Wright just dropped a brand new trailer for Baby Driver this morning, and it provides tons of new footage showcasing the comedy-crime thriller with the backdrop of some sweet tunes.

While the trailer is short, it manages to get the point across of the action and levity this film has to offer. ‘Radar Love’ plays in the background as the trailer shows off Baby’s (Ansel Elgort) impressive skills as a getaway driver along with the crew he is supposed to work with.

This entire movie is said to be driven (no pun intended) by the beat of Baby’s soundtrack as he tries to leave the criminal life behind. His music, which he uses to drown out humming in his ears, is what helps make him the best he is at the business of getaway driving. Radar Love was used in the previous international trailer and I am excited to see how it is used in the film. A humorous situation in the trailer shows Baby starting it over because he did not have another song to use.

This trailer only increases the hype for the film since the rave reviews it received at SXSW, and all that buzz is what prompted Sony to move up the release date nearly two whole months. This really shows their confidence in Edgar Wright’s new film. The previous trailers displayed the characters and their humorous attributes, but this trailer stands out from those that came before in that it focuses more on the musically-orchestrated action, a smart move on Sony’s part.
