The DCEU is in full blown production and isn’t going anywhere any time soon, with releases like this years Wonder Woman and Justice League. One property that has not been discussed in explicit detail, however, is Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam. A recent interview with MTV provided some interesting details on the future of the DCEU.While Speaking to MTV at the World Premiere of his latest film, The Fate of the Furious, Dwayne Johnson decided to open up about the quiet and not-much-discussed topic that is his DC film that he is starring in, Black Adam. When Johnson took a moment to discuss the future over at DC, he has this to say:
“We’ve had great discussions with Geoff Johns over at DC. This is a really fun, cool time for DC right now because they’re world-building,” Johnson told MTV’s Josh Horowitz. “We’re seeing that with Wonder Woman and Aquaman. We have a few surprises down the line.”
Since Shazam and Black Adam are two very important characters to the DC Universe, it is important that both get plenty amounts of screen time to fully develop their characters before being used in other films, as Johnson describes in the following:
“So what we decided to do was to create a scenario where Black Adam has his stand-alone movie, and Captain Marvel, Shazam, has his stand-alone movie,” he added. “We’re building our world that way, and then we can come together at some point.”
It is good to hear that the creatives over at WB are taking the time to have these discussions with actors and producers, in order to ensure the final product of films on characters like Black Adam and Shazam are done right. If these discussions and Johnson’s enthusiasm are any hint, both the Black Adam and Shazam films may be closer to being made than we expect.
