Fellow Geeks rejoiced when the trailer for the highly anticipated Justice League film arrived, but some may have been left scratching their heads after they realized the lack of marketing for the Gal Gadot led Wonder Woman film, which is set to release on June 2nd, while Justice League releases in November of this year. But with further speculation it seems that Wonder Woman will grace Dr. Pepper cans as an extension of their marketing relationship after Batman V. Superman.
Warner Bros. had a major marketing year last year with their mega-marketing of Batman V. Superman and their God-like marketing and advertising of Suicide Squad, which kind of worked! They pulled in $872 million at the box office for Batman V. Superman and $745 million for Suicide Squad.
The Marvel V. DCEU debate can now be furthered in their marketing tactics. With Marvel’s Guardians of The Galaxy: Vol 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Thor: Ragnarok releasing this year, their marketing has been top notch by teaming with a top brand like Frito-Lay for their Dorito bags featuring the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Does DCEU believe in this upcoming Wonder Woman solo film? Do they actually have faith that the Patty Jenkins directed film could pull in a bigger box office haul than their two previous films? What are your thoughts about the lack of marketing for the upcoming Wonder Woman film?
Wonder Woman releases on June 2nd 2017. The film stars Gal Gadot and Chris Pine and is directed by Patty Jenkins.
