I am so excited to see Cate Blanchett in Thor: Ragnarok. I look at pictures and I see death in her eyes. I think this screen-shot supports my thought. I have not watched the trailer, nor plan on doing so, however, that is a different topic.

Cate Blanchett as Hela in the Thor: Ragnarok trailer

I have heard rumors that Hela is supposed to be Marvel’s ‘Mistress Death’. Now Cate was never my first choice as that character, but if that is the case and she is Marvel’s Death, then I for one am not mad at all. However, I would take that with a grain of salt as well.

I have not seen a lot of her movies, but from what I have seen, I think she is going to do a fantastic job! I think she is going to bring in a new wave of Marvel movie female villains. I have seen some posts where someone says, “What do you think about Marvel’s first female villain,” and I cannot help but correct that person.

Marvel may have more male roles, but my hope, and maybe yours, is that Cate brings in more female lead villains. They have done female villains in the TV shows. The Defenders and Agent Carter both have larger female lead villains. Agents of SHIELD has recently introduced Madame Hydra, and Mallory Jensen has been grabbing my attention since she was first introduced.

Finally, I believe she will bring Marvel’s lack of interesting or poorly written villains to a higher level. This is solely based on looks, but it is my hope that after nine years, Marvel can get a well-written movie villain out on screen. Kilgrave, Grant Ward, Wilson Fisk, and a few other TV show villains are more enjoyable than some of their movie villains. I know Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming are released prior to this, and I also wish that their villains are just as great, but I want Hela to be the best Marvel villain we have seen on the big screen thus far.
