Reports have indicted that Marvel’s fifth sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp, of phase three will start the filming process this June! Kevin Feige was interviewed during the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 press release and acclaimed that
“Assuming everything stays on schedule, we start filming Ant-Man and the Wasp in June.” Collider
Things are busy over at Marvel, but this is not a complete shocker as they are always busy with something. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be released in two weeks, Thor: Ragnarok is in post-production, Black Panther has recently wrapped up their filming, and Avengers: Infinity War is currently in production. We, as fans, must hope that this movie does not have any troubles like that in 2015.
The director for the next Ant-Man sequel, Peyton Reed, stated:
“It’s something we’re excited about. For me as a comic nerd, I always thought of Ant-Man and Wasp as a team and that’s a lot of what the second movie is really about is how they work together, what their personal and professional relationships are like. To show her finally fully formed in this movie is really exciting. We really get to introduce this character into that universe. I mean we’ve introduced the character, but we haven’t seen her with her full power set and everything, so to me she’s not a supporting character in this movie. It’s every bit as much her movie as it is Scott Lang’s.” (Collider)
This is great news to come by because it gives a sense of better character development for Evangeline Lilly’s character since she will NOT be appearing in the third Avengers movie. It also suggests that this might be more of a duo movie similar to Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but it is different in that this is the first Marvel movie that has two heroes in the title.
Ant-Man and the Wasp is scheduled to come to theaters on July 6, 2018 in IMAX and standard version starring Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, and Michael Peña as Scott Lang aka Ant-Man, Hope Van Dyne aka Wasp, Hank Pym, and Luis respectfully. Who’s getting excited?
