CBR just confirmed Supergirl just cast actor Mark Gibbon to play General Zod in this season’s finale. That would be episode 22 of season 2 on Monday, May 22nd.
General Zod has appeared in live action before, most famously portrayed by Terence Stamp in Superman II, and Michael Shannon in Man of Steel. Callum Blue was Zod in Smallville.
This isn’t Mark Gibbon’s first role in a show revolving around the house of El. He played minor roles in Smallville and Man of Steel. He joins Tyler Hoechlin (Superman) and Calista Flockhart (Cat Grant) who will also appear in the finale. Could we see a Superman vs Zod fight? Will Zod help Supergirl? With one of Zod’s famous henchmen, Non, having appeared in previous episodes of Supergirl, it would be interesting to have Zod mention his previous affiliation with Non, assuming he has had one in this universe.
