It was the Summer of 1995, and if you didn’t have a favorite Power Ranger you definitely weren’t eating at the same lunch table as me. Anticipation was at an all time high for the big screen debut of the cultural phenomenon that was the Power Rangers, and if you were expecting to have cinema changed forever…just keep waiting.

The original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers gave fans of the series exactly what they wanted, and put their parents through roughly 90 minutes of cringe worthy dialogue, and even worse “performances,” but put a massive smile on their children’s faces to be sure. While introducing some awesome new Zords, some fun new characters (Dulcea…total smokeshow), and an edgy villain, the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was a foundation for summer popcorn flicks for years to come.

Admittedly grading this movie on a massive curve, we give the film a 3: A movie with just as many negatives as positives. If nothing else, it was the unofficial coup de gras for the current run of Rangers, and made for some awesome new merchandising opportunities- because you know you had to have the Gorilla Zord toy.
