Warning! SPOILERS FOR THE FLASH SEASON 3 IN THIS REVIEW

The Flash returns from a month-long hiatus with The Once and Future Flash and we could not be more excited to review it. In the last episode, Barry decided to travel to the future to learn Savitar’s identity. It also had Caitlin Snow fully become Killer Frost.

The episode opens out with Barry and Iris in their home while Barry calculates when in the future he will travel to. Iris makes him promise that if she does still die, he will be there for Joe and Wally. Then Barry races to Star Labs to stop Killer Frost from killing HR, Julian and Cisco. Caitlin escapes which causes friction between Julian and Cisco. It is here where Barry decides to go into the future. He and Wally have a nice moment where they fist bump and Wally runs faster than Barry to propel him into the future. Barry arrives in 2024 and gets beaten up by The Top, and Mirror Master. He escapes to his apartment which is trashed and he sees Cisco. Cisco deduces Barry’s reason for being here and takes him to where future Barry is in Star Labs. Future Barry basically tells 2017 Barry to leave and that he doesn’t know Savitar’s identity. He tries to and fails. Cisco reveals that in a fight with Killer Frost he lost his hands and could not Vibe anymore. Barry is then taken to see Julian who has a cell for Caitlin. Caitlin knows Savitar’s identity and refuses to tell it. Cisco shows Barry where Wally is. Wally went into a rage when Iris died and tried to fight Savitar alone. His spine was broken and he is clearly suffering a fate worse than death. Lastly, Barry visits Joe at Iris’ grave, where Joe is clearly holding in rage for Barry since he left him alone after Iris and Wally were taken from him. Barry goes to talk to himself, but all 2024 Barry reveals is that he tried using time remnants to save Iris but all were killed. Barry is about to go home after learning that Cisco was preventing him from doing so, but has a change of heart. He rounds up Julian, Joe, and HR, who are doing readings, HR doing this to charm women. Barry ends up fighting Mirror Master and The Top again, but during the fight Future Flash in his new suit comes to his aid. They team up and Barry instills hope in Team Flash. Before Barry leaves, Future Barry gives him a device that will tell him where he can find Tracy Brand, a woman who created the speed force trap for Savitar. Barry comes back to 2017 and makes it his mission to find Caitlin. Caitlin is in a snowy forest when she is confronted by Savitar, she asks how she can trust him. Savitar’s suit starts to come off and we see his foot…. as Caitlin says “What do you need me to do?” with a very shocked face. WHO IS SAVITAR?

The episode was overall very well done. It was an emotional roller coaster that built up hype for the final 4 episode of the season. Hearing of the future events, Caitlin’s alliance, Wally’s spine being broken, Cisco losing his hands, etc, really helps us get more excited for Savitar. The next episode looks like it will reveal the identity of Savitar, which I cannot wait to find out!
