The trailer for Marvel’s newest team up has finally come! Marvel’s The Defenders is the street level team of superheroes made up of Daredevil, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage. Over the past few years, each character has had their own individual show released on Netflix that has all led up to this street level Avengers style team up.
The trailer opens with Jessica Jones being interrogated by Misty Knight before Matt Murdock has a chance to step in telling her, “Jessica Jones stop talking….my name is Matthew Murdock. I’m your attorney.”
Next up we get our first look at Luke Cage and Claire Temple where Claire is asking him how being Harlem’s hero allows him to have a real life. She then introduces him to his future BFF, Danny Rand. Although their relationship looks iffy at first, I’m sure they’ll work it out.
From there we hear the voice of Stick speaking to the whole team, introducing them individually, and our first look at Elektra for the series. “You four..
…the devil of Hell’s Kitchen..
..the smart ass detective…
….the righteous ex-con…
…and the kid with the glowing fist…
..the war for New York is here”
In between clips of his speech we get our first look at everyone’s favorite tall blue alien lady Sigourney Weaver!
They have strategically placed Nirvana’s Come as You Are to say “as a known enemy” right when she first appears. Clever, Marvel.
Stick then comes back in to say “so get your shit together.”
From here on out we see a lot of cool fighting and team work from the Defenders, and we get this nice little team photo here…
The trailer then features a sweet fight scene that I can imagine will be comparable to the hallway fights we’ve seen in Daredevil seasons 1 and 2. There’s no way I could have captured how great it was in screen shots, so you’ll have to see for yourself. Lastly, there is a moment of the team sitting around a dinner table that appears to be like the Schwarma scene at the end of The Avengers.
