After two other iterations of Peter Parker, better known as Spider-Man, on film, it’s been a wonder, since his first appearance in Captain America: Civil War in the form of Tom Holland, where the third iteration will go. Apparently, though, in a recent issue of Empire Magazine, Holland himself said he has pitched something at Marvel Studios that, hopefully, will put twenty years on the horizon for him to play the character:
“Peter Parker is a character we see as a 15-year-old boy and then as a 35-year-old man. So I have an idea of what I’d like to do, and I’ve pitched it and it’s already been taken into the boardroom. It would be really cool if it pans out, because it means I would be Spider-Man for a very long time.”
To see these words from Tom Holland is extremely reassuring. To think that he might transcend the age Peter Parker reached when he was played by Tobey Maguire with the help of Marvel Studios is amazing. There would be no number to the titles, becoming a series similar to Harry Potter like it was compared to. It would mean we would get to see Spider-Man not only face off against the Vulture, but many other villains yet to be adapted, maybe in addition to the ones that already have been. We would get to see Peter Parker beyond high school, working for the Daily Bugle, and more importantly J. Jonah Jameson. Spidey himself could have appearances in countless other films that are tied to the universe he resides in (or beyond). For Holland to make a statement like this means he’s dedicated, and if he sticks to it, like a spider to its web…well it’d be safe to say, he is Spider-Man.
