Disneyland’s foray into the Marvel Universe has provided fans with some of the greatest cinematic moments in history as well as a few of the highest grossing films of all time. Since Disney’s multi-million dollar collaboration with Marvel Studios began, superheroes and villains have been on the list of attractions at both Disneyland and Disney World. With the exciting new opening of the Guardians of the Galaxy at Disneyland, a few Easter eggs have fans wondering: is Beta Ray Bill FINALLY making his live-action cinematic debut?
While it is a fact that Beta Ray Bill was spotted among the items in The Collector’s collection during the events of 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy, fans were left wondering if he would ever play as big of a role in the films as he has played in the comics and the animated Avengers series. Fans who are lucky enough to pay their price of admission and get on the new ride are brought back to that collection and one thing that stands out the most among is a familiar looking hammer.
In the comics Beta Ray Bill is proven to be worthy of lifting Thor’s hammer Mjolnir, so much so that Odin gifts Bill with his own hammer in order to fight the forces of evil and protect his people. This hammer is called Stormbreaker.
Which looks a lot like the one on display among The Collector’s prized trinkets on the new ride.
While none of the Marvel’s rides have been considered cannon within the MCU, this is an odd inclusion. The description reads, “Originated in the dwarves forge on Nidavellir, this finely crafted object is made of the powerful stone, Uru,” The same stone from which Mjolnir was crafted.
Also among the artifacts are things that are simply labeled “Mysterious Artifacts.”
The description reads, “these mysterious artifacts were found at the bottom of the Terran ocean. Very little is known of the civilization that created them.”
Seems…..fishy.
Namor the sub-mariner and Marvel’s depiction of Atlantis has been the subject of controversy throughout the years as the film rights have been reported as being with Universe Pictures as well as back home with Marvel Studios. Could a post-Infinity War MCU mean the arrival of the king of the sea?
Take all of this with a grain of salt as it is purely speculation at this point, but speculation is all part of the fun of being a Marvel fan. Stay tuned to GEEKMOTIVATION as we continue to learn more about the future of the beloved and highly profitable Marvel Cinematic Universe.
