Variety has reported that Hailee Steinfeld is in negotiations to be the lead in Paramount’s Bumblebee. The film will be directed by Travis Knight and is the first step in the new Transformers universe to come. Knight directed Kubo and the Two Strings which was nominated for Best Animated film and Steinfeld was nominated for an Oscar in her supporting role in True Grit. Steinfeld can also be seen in the Pitch Perfect 2 and is coming off high praise for her performance in The Edge of Seventeen. Steinfeld can next be seen in Pitch Perfect 3 out on December 22. Bumblebee is set to be released on June, 8 2018.
