After years of anticipation, die hard fans of the 90s TV show thoroughly enjoyed the Power Rangers big screen adaptation, but beyond them, the movie did not receive the greatest reviews. Earning a 46% on Rotten Tomatoes, Dean Israelite’s Power Rangers just did not do it for most critics and causal viewers alike. On top of that, the film had a $100 million dollar budget, and only received $140.2 in the US.
With all those numbers, a decently intelligent human being would realize any hopes for a sequel are most likely squashed, but that may not be the case. As of April 2017, Power Rangers are the top selling action figure in the world, increasing their sales by 185.9% from this time last year. With the Blu-ray being released later this month, it looks like fans might actually get to see a second installment in the potential film franchise.
Toy sales are not a new thing in the business side of filmmaking; Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar, and almost every animated feature is usually accompanied by a slue of toys to flood the market. What is special about Power Rangers’ case, is that their toys could single handedly FUND another film, not just help increase the profit of an already successful movie.

I just want a sequel so that I can see Tommy Oliver fighting against the group and then alongside the group. I also want to see Lord Zedd!!
