Ridley Scott recently gave some details about the sequel to Alien: Covenant. In an interview, Scott stated that the engineers will be in the sequel and they will find out about what David has done to their home.
There will be three or four different players coming in to investigate. One of which will be the Engineers arriving back to find their planet decimated. I think those ships come and go on regular intervals. I see them as the gardeners of space. Where we go next is obvious. We’re gonna actually go to the planet.
When Scott says “the planet”, he may be referring to the LV-426 which may prove the fan
theory that Origae-6 is that exact same planet. The Covenant was on course to land on Origae-6 at the end of Alien: Covenant with David on board as well as Daniels (Katherine Waterston) and Tennessee (Danny McBride). LV-426 was the planet the Nostromo landed on in Alien (1979). Alien: Awakening is set to begin filming next year according to Scott.
