Just a few hours ago, The Hollywood Reporter published an article about the new-found relationship between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures Entertainment. Dug deep into the article, and only having two sentences, the article sheds light on the upcoming Venom movie; it will be Carnage.
That is meant both literally and figuratively, as Tom Hardy’s Venom will face off against Venom’s symbiote child, Carnage. As of yet, there has been no castings other than Hardy, however, with this news breaking, an actor will most likely be cast in the coming weeks.
Aiming for a R-rating, Venom may also include Tom Holland’s Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Contractually, Holland is only obligated to appear in the Spider-Man trilogy, however, Sony has the hope of bringing him into the spin-off movies of the Spider-Man franchise.
Venom currently holds a release date of October 5, 2018, just a mere 5 months and one day after Avengers: Infinity War hits the big screen. A date like that gives a perfect opportunity to stick extremely close to Venom and Carnage’s comic origins. The film will star Tom Hardy as the titular character, and Ruben Fletcher will sit in the director’s chair. Let us know what you think of this supervillain match-up in the comments section!
