The 13th movie in the X-Men film franchise will not only feature a presumably unhinged Jean Grey but it will also feature one of Marvel Comics’ more interesting characters in their universe, The Dazzler.

Back during the filming of 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse, the world was clamoring of rumors of the Dazzler’s appearance when this image surfaced online:

Would Taylor Swift make an appearance?! Was she The Dazzler?!

Then during one deleted scene from 2016’s mutant adventure in which Cyclops, Jubilee, Jean Grey, and Nightcrawler gallivanted throughout the mall, The Dazzler was once again teased.

A few weeks back, casting notices were released and revealed a few calls that matched the description of the role, and now Geek Motivation can confirm, via EW.com, that The Dazzler will be making an appearance in 2018’s X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

For those who don’t know, the Dazzler, AKA Allison Blaire, is a mutant closely associated with the X-Men who made her comic book debut in 1980. Her main superpower is the ability to convert sound into light beams of various forms and intensity, but she is also a trained ice skater, singer, and dancer. She has been a member of the A-Force, an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., and, more recently, a loyal soldier in the mutants war with the Inhumans.

Who knows what role she will play during the events of the film or which actress (or singer) will play one of Simon Kinberg’s favorite characters, but this is an exciting development and will keep fans guessing about what the actual plot of the film will be.

X:Men Dark Phoenix will be released in 2018!

Dark Phoenix, directed by Simon Kinberg, will begin shooting this summer and stars Turner, Sheridan, Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Alexander Shipp and Kodi Smit-McPhee. Jessica Chastain is also in talks to play the film’s villain. It’s scheduled for release on Nov. 2, 2018
