We are almost 10 months close to the release of Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War, and perhaps even closer to the first footage from the movie itself. (We’re looking at you, San Diego Comic Con.) In preparation for one of the most magnificent and most anticipated superhero films to come within the next year, here is a review on the Infinity Gauntlet arc, a storyline which ran from July to December of 1991!

*A possible SPOILER ALERT should be noted*

What would you do for love or for power? In this storyline, madman Thanos has the answer to such a question. Throughout the six issues, the brother of Eros is resurrected by the apathetic Mistress Death. In return, he is to bring chaos throughout the whole universe. What happens afterward is the result of the Titan’s infatuation with the woman. Mephisto serves as sort of a wingman for Thanos, and he advises the Titan to do a myriad of things to impress embodiment of death. A fraction of the universe disappears out of nowhere, and a number of natural disasters occur in different areas of Earth.

It is up to a group of Marvel’s remaining supers (Doctor Doom, Iron Man, Captain America,  Hulk and his cousin She-Hulk, Thor, Namor, Firelord, Drax the Destroyer,Wolverine, Cyclops, Spider-Man, Vision, Scarlet Witch, and more) led by Adam Warlock, Dr. Strange, and the Silver Surfer to save the universe before it is too late. However, not even these puny beings are any match for the Mad Titan. Warlock and the Surfer enlist some help from several celestial beings as a plan B and last resort. Are they really any match for this supposed supreme being? Who lives and who dies?  Is this really the end? Who has the nerve to stand against such a terrifying tyrant? No one knows for sure, although one thing is certain. Nothing is what it seems in the Infinity Gauntlet storyline, and such power can drive a mere person insane. It is going to take more than faith, strength, intelligence, and strategy to take this guy down!
