Not even the head of Marvel Studios can resist the Lasso of Truth!

Wonder Woman has been a huge hit both financially and critically. As of June 27th, the film has earned over $325,083,830 domestically and a whopping $660,883,830 worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo. Both fans and critics agree that it is one of the best films in the DCEU and one of the best films in the superhero genre. The movie is an excellent reminder that you can have a female superhero in the lead and still be successful. You know who else loved the film? Kevin Feige himself!

In a recent interview with Yahoo! Movies, The head of Marvel Studios has talked about the Patty Jenkins film and the aftermath it brings for the Hollywood industry. He said:

“The success of Wonder Woman is awesome, and just puts to rest the fallacy that people don’t want to see female superheroes”

Feige also talked about how he enjoyed the movie as a whole, stating:

I’ve always been a fan of the character, and I thought what they did with the film was perfect

He then talks about how the Linda Carter Wonder Woman series has been a huge inspiration for him as a child, going as far as emulating her iconic move.

I remember pretending to deflect bullets off of my wrists and spinning around to get a costume on!

Not only does Feige rave about the film and the success it deserves, he also has gone on record with Mashable on how Wonder Woman has helped break the barriers for female leading films, even for the upcoming Captain Marvel. Of course, Kevin has stated that the film has been in the works for “a long time,” but he quickly credited his competitors for the risk they took:

What it does do is go, ‘Oh, thank God’ […] Because what the question would have been on this junket before that is, ‘Do you think people want to see a female superhero movie? Do you think audiences are ready to go see a big … Are you nervous about Captain Marvel being a big, the first female hero?’

And I would always say no, because there hasn’t been a good one in a long time. There were, you know, 15 years ago, a bunch of bad ones. Did they fail because they were female lead movies? No. They failed because they were not good movies.

I don’t have to say that anymore. Thanks to Wonder Woman. Because it just blows that fallacy out of the water.

Captain Marvel is set for a 2019 release, with Brie Larson as the lead for the film. Meanwhile, you can still catch Wonder Woman in theaters.
