Marvel released the trailer for its legendary Royal Family! Finally, the first official footage of the Inhumans television series is here!
The trailer above shows a story arc similar to the 1998-1999 run of the comic book series. Here is a little breakdown of what happened (and of course, a possible spoiler alert should be noted):
The first scene starts off with a view of a post-Agents of SHIELD Season 4 Earth from space. Black Bolt’s brother Maximus the Mad, played by Game of Thrones‘ Iwan Rheon, tells his people that “sooner or later, the humans are going to find us up here.” Black Bolt is seen sitting in the middle of a jail cell of sorts.
The trailer then shows the Inhumans’ home Attilan, while Black Bolt himself is plagued with a conflict much like the comics. Maximus persuades his people to return to Earth to come back to beautiful and secure lives. Maximus is shown to be at the head of their government, having taken Medusa (Black Bolt’s wife) and Crystal (Medusa’s sister) as prisoners. Black Bolt must have supposedly given his leadership position to his brother.
Black Bolt must have supposedly given his leadership position to his brother because, in the next scene, Karnak–BB’s cousin and closest adviser–warns the silent protagonist that his brother is psychotic and poses a threat to everybody. Maximus says that their people will be liberated. He and a few men–could they be Alpha Primitives?–enter Black Bolt’s cell. Black Bolt tries to open his mouth and use his hypersonic voice to kill them, but
Maximus and a few of his men–could they be Alpha Primitives?–enter Black Bolt’s cell. Black Bolt tries to open his mouth and use his hypersonic voice to kill them, and the men aim their guns at him. Fortunately, Lockjaw teleports into the cell and takes Black Bolt away to Earth, specifically Hawaii (which is reported to be where the show was filmed at).
Triton and Crystal are then seen evading capture in some kind of forest or jungle. Maximus walks through Attilan’s underground system. Black Bolt running from and attacking the police in formal clothing. Guerilla men are storming through the forest/ jungle (perhaps this is where Attilan is at). Gorgon using his hooves to fight off the enemy. The police get the upper hand, and Black Bolt accidentally uses his power in the middle of a street.
The final scene shows Lockjaw being his cute, giant self. Save the best for last…right?
Marvel’s Inhumans releases in IMAX theaters on September 1 and will premiere on ABC on September 29. For more updates on Marvel’s Royal Family, follow Geek Motivation on Twitter and Instagram!
