In Brightest Day, In Blackest Night…
Interesting news for Green Lantern fans! That Hashtag Show has reported that Rupert Wyatt is “confirmed” to direct Green Lantern Corps. The English director is best known for the hit sequel Rise of The Planet of The Apes.
That Hashtag Show also revealed some details regarding the DCEU film. It has been described to be a “Lethal Weapon in Space,” and it will feature an older Hal Jordan filling the mentor role for a young John Stewart. The descriptions state:
Hal Jordan: Caucasian, 39 – 50. A former military test pilot, he is now a veteran of the Green Lantern Corps.
John Stewart: African- American male, 21 – 30. Prior to joining the Green Lantern Corp, he was a sniper in the military.
Of course, these are all rumors. Nothing has been confirmed by Warner Bros. themselves yet. If the rumors are to be true, Wyatt will be working with writers David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight Trilogy, Man of Steel) and Justin Rhodes (Contract Killers).
The film is currently scheduled for a 2020 release date, with no actors attached to the project yet.
UPDATE: Umberto Gonzalez, known film writer for The Wrap, has tweeted regarding the rumors:
“re: Rupert Wyatt/GL CORPS heard a while back HOWEVER THERE WAS NO DEAL because he wants to read script first before making a decision.” -@elmayimbe
