Freeform’s new Marvel TV show finally found its cast.
The Hollywood Reporter just announced that This Is Us‘ Milana Vaynytrub was cast as Squirrel Girl, while Derek Theler (Baby Daddy) will play Mister Immortal.
Vaynytrub is popular for her role as “Lily, the AT&T girl” in the commercials for the telecommunications brand.
Both Vaynytrub and Theler will be the leads of the series, with actors Jeremy Tardy as Night Thrasher, Calum Worthy as Speedball, Matthew Moy as Microbe and Kate Comer as Debrii.
Showrunner Kevin Biegel had this to say about the cast:
“I am thrilled beyond belief to be working with this incredible group of actors. They are funny, sincere, eager, charming and perfectly embody these characters. It’ll be a blast and an honor to create this show with each of them,”
The series will consist of 10 episodes and it’s about “six young people learning to cope with their abilities in a world where bad guys can be as terrifying as bad dates.”

According to sources, Stranger Things‘ star Shannon Purser, who played Barb in the series, was in talks to play Squirrel Girl, but wasn’t available due to her commitment to NBC’s upcoming Good Girl. Sources also state that the character was written with her in mind. Also, Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect) has previously expressed her interest in playing the character.
Marvel’s New Warriors is set to air in 2018 on Freeform.
