John Oliver, best known from his talk show Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and Community, has joined the cast for the live action remake of The Lion King. He will be voicing the character Zazu, who served as majordomo to Mufasa, Scar, and Simba. It will be directed by Jon Favreau, who has also directed Iron Man and The Jungle Book. The script will be written by Jeff Nathanson.
Production reportedly got underway in May and filming is expected to wrap this September. Also joining the voice cast will be Donald Glover as Simba, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Billy Eichner as Timon, and Seth Rogen as Pumba.
Lion King will be in theatres on July, 19 2019
