The DCEU’s solo Batman film has seen a lot of production and script changes in the past few months. The film now seems to be getting a whole new story according to comments from director Matt Reeves. In a recent interview with Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast on MTV.com, Reeves stated that the film’s story is starting completely from scratch.
No, it’s a new story. It’s just starting again. I’m excited about it. I think it’s going to be really cool.
This makes sense because of the credibility Reeves currently brings as a filmmaker. He has done an outstanding job with the Planet of the Apes franchise and the idea of him crafting a Batman script should excite any fan of the caped crusader. This news could also mean that Joe Manganiello’s version of Deathstroke might be absent from the film. Deathstroke was most likely to be the main villain of the film when Ben Affleck was slated to be the director. The situation eventually fell through and Affleck stepped away from helming the film. He will only continue to play Batman in front of the camera.
