With our second installment of Real Life Hero, here is Aaron Tucker. Mr.Tucker, an ex-convict, is living in a halfway house after serving 22 months in prison for weapons charges. It was here that he began looking for a job to support his almost 2-year-old son. Luckily for Mr.Tucker, Stamford, Connecticut’s Dinosaur Bar-B-Que offered an interview for a bus boy position.
While riding the bus to his interview, Tucker noticed an overturned, smoking car on the side of the road. Immediately, Tucker approached the bus driver, asking if he would be stopping. When the driver said no, Tucker decided he would be getting out to help the person in the car. Before running to the driver’s aide, Tucker asked if the bus driver would wait for him. Again, the answer was no.
Not wasting another second, Tucker rushed to the side of the car to help the 61-year-old driver out of the car and to safety, with the help of a few others. Tucker took off his shirt to help stop the bleeding stemming from the man’s forehead. He waited until an ambulance arrived to help the elderly man. Unfortunately, Tucker did not get the bus boy position he was aiming for, however, three more companies offered positions to the good samaritan. There has also been a GoFundMe account set up to help Tucker support his son.
All this man wanted was to provide for his son, but when another human being was in need, he risked losing his one chance to do the right thing. This should send a clear and simple message to everyone out there: always do the right thing, no matter what. Aaron Tucker had turned his life around and has been working to become a better man for his son. Kudos to you, Mr. Tucker!
