Fans got extremely excited when Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was cast as Black Adam in the D.C. Extended Universe. Everyone suspected that he’d appear in Shazam, but Heroic Hollywood reported some sad news today. Geoff Johns, one of DC’s most famous writers and now their President and Chief Creative Officer, said this:
“We haven’t announced any casting yet, but Dwayne isn’t going to be in this movie. He’s still doing Black Adam but won’t be in Shazam!”
This is certainly interesting news. Shazam now has to find another plot that doesn’t involve Billy Batson against Black Adam. It also means that Shazam and Black Adam would have to fight in Black Adam or in another film, perhaps a Justice League or Shazam sequel.
Shazam is the next DCEU film in production.
