As San Diego Comic Con was happening this past weekend, one thing fans were hoping for was an Avengers: Infinity War trailer. In the end, it was the only thing that didn’t happen (at least not officially since the trailer leaked). The fact there wasn’t a trailer becomes more interesting until disovering how long the film is going to be.

After Marvel’s panel, in an interview with Collider, Joe Russo spoke on the runtime of the next Avengers film, saying, “the current cut is over two and a half [hours].” He also said, “most of it’s a movie you could show,” which made me wonder: Why on earth wasn’t a trailer released to everyone? This was followed up by the fact that “there’s still a lot of work left to be done,” which should make fans feel as though the Russo brothers want to start on the right foot and put out an amazing trailer.

When it comes to films themselves, some of the longest films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are The Avengers and Captain America: Civil War, both of which rank first and second respectively in many personal rankings of the MCU films because of how they bring the universe together and challenge the characters collectively. Personally, I do enjoy when exciting films like these are extensive in runtime because there is so much more to enjoy! After all, as Russo says, it’s “a culmination event,” and to see everything of the past ten years come to fruition would be best as an epic.
