After the rocky reception of DC’s Suicide Squad, Warner Brothers made the decision to move forward with a sequel for the team of villains. Rumors of different directors talking with WB circulated the internet after David Ayer, the director of the first Suicide Squad, was announced to be instead working on Gotham City Sirens. Names from Mel Gibson to Jaume Collet-Serra made the rounds. It is Collet-Serra, however, who seemed to be the favorite.
Unfortunately, The Shallows director has decided to move instead to Disney’s Jungle Cruise, working alongside Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. With this news making its way to the forefront, Warner Brothers and DC must continue their search for someone new to helm the next Suicide Squad installment.
How do you feel about Collet-Serra passing up this opportunity? Are you excited for Jungle Cruise or Suicide Squad 2? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
