While promoting his new movie Detroit to Entertainment Weekly, John Boyega took time to comment on Star Wars: The Last Jedi. He claims that it will have a different feel to it than previous movies in the Star Wars franchise due to director Rian Johnson, saying, “Being a different person comes with a different energy, a different perspective, and Rian definitely has his own unique style.”

He goes on to attribute the continued success of the franchise to the differences in directors, telling Entertainment Weekly, “What people fail to understand sometimes is that the success of these stories that will stay with us long-term is to bring new ideas, is to expand the universe. So we can have new stories, new people, just a different perspective is awesome.”

Let’s hope that the enthusiasm and optimism Boyega has for the franchise reflects in the newest movie. I for one am surely looking forward to this.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi comes to theaters on December 15, 2017 with John Boyega returning as Finn, Daisey Ridley returning as Rey, Oscar Isaac returning as Poe Dameron, and Adam Driver returning as Kylo Ren. Also returning are Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill as Leia Organa and Luke Skywalker respectively.
