Fans of the Amazonian Warrior are in for a treat as Six Flags announced a new ride based on Wonder Woman coming soon. Titled Wonder Woman: Golden Lasso, it will be a coaster that will open next spring at San Antonio, Texas. According to USA Today, the ride is the world’s first single coaster featuring a 90-degree drop and three inversions.
Six Flags VP and chief corporate engineer Larry Chickola had this to say:
I expect it to be crazy smooth,” […] “And crazy fun. There will be extremely quick twists and turns – quicker and smoother than regular coasters.
The ride will be a single rail coaster with up to eight passengers that can ride at the same time. That means that only one seat per car is being installed. Chickola refers to the attraction as a “monorail” coaster. While the thoughts for the ride would be “slow and poky vehicles used to transport passengers at airports and elsewhere,” he clarifies that with Wonder Woman, it will be the opposite: “high-thrill and edgy experience.”
USA Today describes the ride as following:
Wonder Woman will climb a 113-foot hill, drop about 100 feet straight down at 90-degrees, and hit a top speed of 52 mph. It will include over-banked turns and the free-floating sensation known as airtime.
