The cast of the live-action The Lion King continues to add talented actors. The remake of the classic 1994 animated movie already included James Earl Jones (reprising his rule of Mufasa from the original), Donald Glover (Simba), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Scar), Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner and John Oliver.
The cast just got a new addition in the form of Academy Award nominated actress Alfre Woodard. She is known for many roles including her recent role of Mariah Dillard in 2016’s Marvel Netflix series Luke Cage. It’s confirmed that Alfre Woodard will voice Sarabi, Simba’s mother according to the Hollywood Reporter
This is not the first time Alfre Woodward has worked on a Disney project. She starred in Disney projects such as 2000’s Dinosaur and 2016’s Captain America: Civil War.
The Lion King, written by Jeff Nathanson and directed by Jon Favreau, is set to release on July 19 2019.
