First Skywalker Reunion In 34 Years In The Last Jedi, John Boyega Hints

Everyone remembers the teasers for The Force Awakens, showcasing Luke Skywalker putting his hand on R2-D2, Han Solo and Chewbacca emerging from the entryway into the Millennium Falcon and much more. Carrie Fisher had such a big role in the seventh episode, still going strong and leading the rebellion.

Sadly, Fisher passed away last December. She is constantly remembered by her fans, who are inspired and motivated by her role in the Star Wars franchise and beyond. Her final role before passing was in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, so fans and audiences alike are eager to see the curtain close on Fisher’s memorable filmmaking career.

The Force Awakens concluded with Rey following the now completed map across the galaxy to find Luke Skywalker. With that in mind, everyone’s hoping to see the classic characters, brother and sister Luke and Leia, reunite at some point in this installment after decades of being seen together on screen.

One of the breakout actors in this trilogy, John Boyega, who recently starred in Detroit, spoke about Carrie Fisher’s presence in the film in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter:

“I think the sendoff is really cool. Even before she passed away, I’d see her in scenes and be like, ‘This is really cool for both Carrie and Mark, who are the last two original leads [alive in the franchise].’ I felt like they deserve more and more — they’ve been doing this for a while and have been the beating heart of something special, and I just feel like [The Last Jedi] pays homage to them in general. But unfortunately, now that she’s passed, it does have a deeper meaning. I think the fans are going to appreciate that.”

Boyega mentioning both Fisher and Hamill does mean we should be seeing them in a scene together. To hear how “cool” it is and how it “pays homage” is excitable for any fan. Furthermore, how deep the sendoff is going to be and how appreciative we’ll be of it makes me know this indeed is the grand finale that Fisher deserves.

What do you think their scene or scenes will be like? Maybe they’ll be fighting alongside each other? Let us know and and follow us @GeekMotivation on Twitter for more news like this.
