Last week, Riz Ahmed was revealed to be in negotiations to join Sony’s Spider-Man spin-off centered around Venom. In a tweet, The Tracking Board editor-in-chief Jeff Sneider hinted that Riz Ahmed might play Spider-Man villain, The Chameleon, instead of Carnage (already confirmed to appear in the film). He also might appear in Sony’s other Spider-Man spin-off Silver and Black as well.

Sneider also hinted in another tweet that Spider-Man villains Tombstone and Tarantula might also appear in Silver and Black.

If the master of disguise known as The Chameleon does appear in the Venom film, it will be interesting to see what role he will play in Venom’s showdown against Carnage. But if the rumors are true, his appearance in Silver and Black may pose a problem since Tarantula, Tombstone and other villains are rumored to appear as well. The over-abundance of super-villains has been a recurring issue in other Sony Spider-man films as we saw in Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

The Venom film will be directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland), written by Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji) and Jeff Pinkner (The Dark Tower), and it stars Tom Hardy as the titular character. It is set to release on October 5, 2018.

Silver and Black is directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (Love & Basketball) and is set to release on February 8, 2019.
