M. Night Shyamalan’s Glass Synopsis Revealed

When M. Night Shyamalan’s psychological horror-thriller Split hit theaters earlier this year on January 20, the audience left theaters with astonishment. The Indian American filmmaker is best known for incorporating supernatural plots and surprise endings to his movies, such as The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable. In addition, his projects have included some great actors (Bruce Willis, Mark Wahlberg, Paul Giamatti, etc.). The thing with Shyamalan, however, is that his movies are either awe-inspiring or atrocious (but we dare not mention his terrible movies); there is no in-between.

Both Shyamalan’s The Visit and Split proved successful. They redeemed the filmmaker’s career in the Hollywood realm. The latter film–and his most recent one at that–follows a man (Kevin Wendell Crumb) with twenty-three different personalities who kidnaps and then holds three teenage girls captive in an isolated area underground. Kevin’s 24th personality was dubbed “The Beast,” which manifested superhuman speed, strength, and agility. At the end, only one of the girls escapes what is revealed to be a zoo and the Beast’s existence was exposed to the world. This movie’s biggest plot twist showed Bruce Willis’s David Dunn (from 2000’s Unbreakable) sitting at a diner as patrons receive word of Kevin’s crimes, a man who the news media has named “The Horde.” One of the women at the diner compares this to an event that transpired over a dozen years ago, in which a terrorist in a wheelchair was sent to jail. She tries to recall his name, to which Dunn–sitting next to her–says, “Mr. Glass.”

Screen Rant just recently revealed the official synopsis for the upcoming follow-up movie titled Glass:

Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.

Following the release of Split, the director announced the official title, release date, and returning actors for the third movie.

M. Night Shyamalan’s Glass is expected to break into theaters on January 18, 2019. Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, Anya Taylor-Joy and James McAvoy will be returning to their respective roles from the previous two films as David Dunn, Elijah Price/ Mr. Glass, Casey and Kevin Wendell Crumb/ The Horde. In addition, the director took to Twitter last month and revealed that Sarah Paulson will be joining the cast in an undisclosed role.
