Jon Bernthal’s Punisher may get help from another hero according to latest reports from MCUExchange.
Marvel held their own panels at Asia Pop Comic Con and during The Punisher panel, C.B Cebulski, The Senior Vice President of Creator and Content development at Marvel, surprised the audience hinting that “another Marvel hero maybe showing up [in The Punisher].”
He didn’t reveal who the hero will be as expected, but MCUExchange did come up with a theory and well, it makes sense. The theory is related to the ending of Marvel’s The Defenders, so read it below at your own risk.
SPOILERS
At the end of Defenders, we see a severely injured Matt at a mysterious hospital attended by nuns which was taken directly from Daredevil: Born Again storyline from the comics. That means Daredevil is missing/dead from the public eye. Frank already has an established relationship with Daredevil and after saying, “See you again, Red” at the end of Daredevil Season 2, that might have been possibly be a foreshadowing for what exactly Cebulski teased. If Frank finds out about Matt, he may be inclined to find what happened. MCUExchange also found that Daredevil stunt person, Chris Brewster has The Punisher listed on his IMDB credits.
Another interesting possibility is that the hero is none other than Marc Spector/Moon Knight himself! We know that the show will heavily incorporate military elements in the plot so there’s a high chance that another guy like Marc Spector possibly show up in Frank’s show. Daredevil Season 2 practically functioned as a backdoor pilot for Frank’s own season so we know Marvel and Netflix are open to mix and matching character debuts in the shows.
Another hero which may possibly appear is Ghost Rider. No not the Ghost Rider, we have seen in Agents of SHIELD. The original Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze. We have already seen him appearing in a flashback (during season 4 of Agents of SHIELD), where he transfers the Spirit of Vengeance to Robbie. Yes that does means he is not a Ghost Rider anymore, but maybe somehow the Spirit will get back to him? Anyways, if Norman Reedus portrays the character, it would absolutely be perfect considering both Bernthal and him are good friends in real life.
