ThatHashtagShow has released a new report about the future of the DCEU’s movie Shazam. It not only states the official character bio for Billy Batson, the young boy who can transform into the superhero Captain Marvel, but also tells about two actors being eyed for the role of the hero, a role that will be cast individually from the role of Billy Batson.

Let’s start with the news that will probably excite more people, that being the actors. According to this report, WWE superstar John Cena and actor Joshua Sasse are the front runners for the role of the superhero Captain Marvel, also known as Shazam. Cena has a history acting as well as wrestling, appearing in movies such as Amy Schumer’s Trainwreck. Sasse, on the other hand, is a relatively new actor appearing in the television shows Galavant and The Neighbors.

The other part of this report is the character bio for Billy Batson and the working description for the film. Both seem to be keeping relatively close to the comics. Batson’s character description is as follows.

Male, 12-15 years old. A teenager who becomes Captain Marvel, the world’s mightiest mortal. Granted access to incredible powers by the wizard Shazam, he speaks the wizard’s name and is struck by a lightning bolt that gives him the powers of the gods.

The working description of the film doesn’t do much to tell the tone or story of the movie, but does do a good job of introducing newcomers to the superhero.

Based on the DC Comics character “Shazam!” Billy Batson becomes Captain Marvel, the world’s mightiest mortal, when he says the magic word “Shazam! The name is an acronym for six gods and heroes of the ancient world as well as their attributes. The wisdom of Solomon, strength of Hercules, stamina of Atlas, power of Zeus, courage of Achilles and speed of Mercury.

Shazam has been around and in development hell since the early 2000s, but was brought out in 2014 when Warner Bros. announced their plans for future DC movies.
