Since a sequel to Man of Steel had been announced, there was much speculation as to who would be directing the film. Later, it was reported that Matthew Vaughn was Warner Bros.’ top runner to direct the sequel. Now, in an interview with Hey U Guys, these reports have been confirmed by Vaughn himself:
“I am planning another Kingsman, I’ve written the treatment and some of the scenes…I don’t know what I’m going to do next but I have had chats about Superman, I love Superman.”
Along with plans for a third Kingsman, Vaughn stated he is indeed in talks to direct the next Superman movie, which will be the sequel to Man of Steel. This is a great choice considering Vaughn is a great Superman fan, like he himself stated. He even pitched a Superman film to Warner Bros. before they went with David S. Goyer and Christopher Nolan’s pitch, which became Man of Steel.
Vaughn is also one of the best comic book movie directors working today. He made an underrated superhero film with Kick-Ass, he revitalized the X-men movie franchise with X-Men: First Class and made a surprise hit with Kingsman: The Secret Service and has finished the sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, which looks great. All seems to indicate that Matthew Vaughn is the right director for the Man of Steel sequel.
The Man of Steel sequel is currently in development and has no official title or release date has of yet.
