With only a few months left before Justice League hits theaters, a lot of people are skeptical of how the movie will turn out. With the DCEU’s current track record, it seems apparent why they’d be skeptical. While Man of SteelBatman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and  Suicide Squad all have their fans, each movie was generally considered a flop. With the success of Wonder Woman, though, it seems the DCEU may be getting onto it’s feet. And I think Justice League will continue with the success of Wonder Woman and start a new record for for the cinematic universe. There are a few reasons that I have high hopes for this film. To start with…

Joss Whedon Finished What Zack Snyder Left

When Zack Snyder stepped down from the film to focus on his family life, it was reported that Joss Whedon would add the finishing touches to Justice League. While it was upsetting that Snyder left, and the reason was absolutely heartbreaking, it seemed like the movie would still be getting good treatment. Despite the recent controversy with Whedon and his ex-wife, he’s still an excellent director who was responsible for one of the most critically acclaimed comic book movies of all time with The Avengers and he should be trusted to do this movie the justice it deserves.

Whedon Is Rumored To Have Changed The Ending

Another reason relating to Whedon that this movie could end up well is due to the fact that he may have changed the entire ending of the film. While we don’t know what either ending looked like, it seems logical that if the ending had to be changed, it would have been changed for the better. Changed to something that adds more to the universe. Even if our heroes don’t get a happy ending, at least the ending will be more constructive.

Many Characters Have Supposedly Been Cut

There were mixed reactions from fans towards Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor, and most of those fans, despite their opinion on him, will probably be glad to hear that he’s been cut from Justice League. Another character that has been left out of the film that was rumored to be appearing was Deathstroke, everyone’s favorite DC mercenary. While it may have been exciting to see him for the first time, Justice League doesn’t seem like to right place to introduce him. Finally, the scenes including Kiersey Clemons as Iris West may have been cut as well. In this case, fans are a little upset, as getting the film’s take on Iris West would have been really cool. But with these cuts comes one great thing. The movie is much more likely to focus on the core characters in the League rather than spreading itself thin between the heroes and the secondary characters.

Early Reactions Are Positive

While it can be noted that positive early reactions to movies don’t always mean the movie will be good, it’s generally a good indicator. Back when the early screenings for Wonder Woman were going around, the movie received loads of compliments. And we all know how that turned out. So while we can’t be sure it’ll be the amazing movie fans want just from early screening reactions alone, we can use them to add a glimmer of hope for Justice League.

Danny Elfman Has Come In As The Film’s Composer

While it’s disappointing to see Junkie XL replaced as the composer for Justice League, at least he was replaced with a legend. In addition to his work with the band Oingo Boingo, he’s scored films such as Tim Burton’s BatmanThe Nightmare Before Christmas, and Avengers: Age of Ultron, all of which had soundtracks that didn’t fail to impress. And who’s to say that he replaced Junkie XL completely? I’m sure we’ll still get bits of his pieces, and some homages to his work in Batman V Superman. I mean, how could anyone cut out “Is She With You”?

Justice League will be in theaters November 17. It is directed by Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon and stars Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash, Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Victor Stone/Cyborg, Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman and will feature Ciarán Hinds as the villainous Steppenwolf.

  1. I especially like that the score will most likely be fantastic. The most memorable part of a movie sometimes is the music. Even if the actual film is adequate, the background elements often enhance its experience, turning even a poor movie into a palatable one. I’ve never much been interested in superhero movies at large, but for the company’s sake, I hope it’s a good one. What a shame it would be for legendary characters to not receive the TLC they deserve. We all know the fans know the difference.
