While recent anime-to-live-action films has been hit or miss *ahem* Ghost In The Shell *ahem*, it looks like Hollywood isn’t giving up as a live action adaptation of the 2016 hit film Your Name is in the works.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount Pictures and director J.J. Abrams (The Force Awakens,Star Trek) are adapting the anime film. Oscar nominee Eric Heisserer (Arrival) is also on board to write the screenplay.

Abram will bring his Bad Robots studios for production along with Lindsey Weber. Both Paramount and Bad Robot will work with Toho Co., the studio that produced the original film. Another person who will produce the film with Abrams is YourName’s own producer Genki Kawamura.

Your Name, directed by Makoto Shinkai, is the highest grossing anime film worldwide, earning over $355 million; and the forth-highest grossing film of all time in Japan.

Mitsuha and Taki are complete strangers living separate lives until they suddenly switch places. Mitsuha wakes up in Taki’s body, and he in hers. This occurrence happens randomly, and they must adjust their lives around each other. Yet, somehow, it works. They build a connection by leaving notes for one another until they wish to finally meet. But something stronger than distance may keep them apart.
