When M. Night Shyamalanâs psychological horror-thriller Split hit theaters at the start of 2017, audiences left theaters in awe. The Indian-American filmmaker is best known for incorporating supernatural plots and surprise endings to his movies.
At the end of the film, only one of the girls being held hostage by the villain escapes what is revealed to be a zoo and the Beastâs existence (played by Wanted and X-Men: First Class‘s James McAvoy) was exposed to the world. This movieâs biggest plot twist showed Bruce Willisâ David Dunn (from 2000âs Unbreakable) sitting at a diner as patrons receive word of Kevinâs crimes, a man who the news media has named âThe Horde.â One of the women at the diner compares this to an event that transpired over a dozen years ago, in which a terrorist in a wheelchair was sent to jail. She tries to recall his name, to which Dunnâsitting next to herâsays, âMr. Glass.â
The director recently took to Twitter to announce that filming of the follow-up film titled Glass has begun.

A synopsis of the project was also released back in August:
“Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumbâs superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.”
M. Night Shyamalanâs Glass is expected to break into theaters on January 18, 2019. Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, Anya Taylor-Joy and James McAvoy will return to their respective roles from the previous two films as David Dunn, Elijah Price/ Mr. Glass, Casey and Kevin Wendell Crumb/ The Horde. Sarah Paulson will be joining the cast in an undisclosed role. Also, Unbreakable’s Spencer Treat Clark and Charlayne Woodard are revealed to be returning as Dunn’s son and Price’s mother.
In addition, Deadline recently reported that Universal and Disney will team up for the making of the film. (Unbreakable was a property of Buena Vista–a brand name under the Walt Disney Company–while Split is a property of Universal Pictures.)
