After months of speculations and no words regarding its production, 20th Century Fox officially confirms that the Gambit film will release on February 14th, 2019.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the news follows Fox’s expansion of their X-Men properties: New Mutants being released in April 2018 along with Deadpool 2 (June 1) and X-Men: Dark Phoenix (November 2).

The X-Men spin off will be directed by Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl) and stars Channing Tatum as the New Orleans-based mutant. The film is also produced by Reid Carolin, Simon Kinkberg, and Lauren Shuler Donner.

Production for the film has faced its problems. On October 2015, Rupert Wyatt backed out of the project, as well as Doug Liman in August 2016. Channing Tatum previously stated that the film was still in production, even with Liman leaving. Luckily, Verbinski has accepted the directing role last week.
