What are the chances of saving the day this time? Here is our review on The Flash’s third episode of its fourth season, titled Luck Be a Lady.

Warning: Possible spoilers ahead!

Plot Summary

Team Flash takes on a new metahuman; this one has luck-based abilities. Meanwhile, they each come across good news and bad news.

Discussion

This episode showcases the return of an old character, while also losing another. As Barry Allen/ The Flash says, “Every hero has their own journey.” The characters in this show continue to explore their own worlds outside of STAR Labs and are confronted with new paths. Joe West has to decide whether or not to sell his family home, while another character ponders on their future.

Luck Be a Lady seems to give off some Final Destination 5 vibes as it is soon revealed that the cause of the new metahumans revolves around a bus. This episode picks off our beloved heroic characters one by one as they come across unlucky happenstances. The episode, of course, ends with our protagonists attempting to stop this force of evil, only to realize that this is just the tip of the iceberg.

(In addition, our Flash villain of the week has a comic book accurate costume at one point.)

Overall, this episode of the show is pretty good and does not include a very threatening villain or complex story arc. However, this is only the third episode so we will have to wait and see some progress.
