Breaking news has been released in regards to the future of Star Wars films. While the latest film for the franchise has not been released, The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson has already been hired to take on a new trilogy for the intergalactic franchise. It seems the crew of the Last Jedi has definitely been pleased with Johnsons product and are definitely eager to put him on many more products to come.
President of Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy stated:
“We all loved working with Rian on The Last Jedi… He’s a creative force, and watching him craft The Last Jedi from start to finish was one of the great joys of my career. Rian will do amazing things with the blank canvas of this new trilogy.”
With such high praise, it is definitely no question of whether or not Johnson has the capacity to create an excellent Star Wars film. We as fans have made us even more eager to see the Last Jedi and see what warranted for Johnson to be put on this job.
Another point to note through all of this news is that it has been stated that this trilogy will be separate from the Skywalker saga. While this can seem to be obvious that it could be totally separate from the current trilogy we still have yet to know what the Last Jedi means for the future of the upcoming films, for all we know the Skywalker could end in the Last Jedi and thus, we can have a totally brand new saga within the core films. Of course, we could also suspect these films to actually be different since Starwars.com has stated:
“Johnson will introduce new characters from a corner of the galaxy that Star Wars lore has never before explored.”
This could possibly bring in much of the lore from the novels which has been retconned ever since the release of the Force Awakens. Whatever the films are we are totally stoked to see more of the galaxy far far away.
