After two months since Andy Muschietti’s IT: Chapter One has hit theaters, the film has been lauded by critics and fans alike and consequently broke records at the box office as both a horror film and an R-rated film. In late September, Warner Brothers and New Line Cinema announced September 6, 2019, as the release date for the film’s sequel titled IT: Chapter Two. The director, as well as his sister and producer Barbara Muschietti, explained plans for the sequel; the two expressed plans for an extended version of the film to be worked on in time for its home release. Days ago, the film’s home release dates have been announced.
IT will hit digitally on December 19th, 2017. The film will be released on Blu-Ray and DVD on January 9th, 2018. According to an article by Bloody Disgusting, the Ultra HD Blu-Ray Combo Back, the Blu-Ray Combo Pack, and the 2-Disc Special Edition DVD will contain the following special features:
- Pennywise Lives! – Discover how Bill Skarsgård prepared to portray the primordial creature known as Pennywise the Dancing Clown
- The Losers’ Club – Get up close and personal with the teenage stars of “IT” as they bond together during the production
- Author of Fear – Author Stephen King reveals the roots of his best-selling novel, the nature of childhood fear, and how he created his most famous monster, Pennywise
- Deleted Scenes – Eleven (11) deleted or extended scenes from the film
Perhaps there will not be a Director’s Cut of the film after all, but such scenes removed from the Theatrical Cut will still make their way somehow to home release.
