The cast of the MCU’s first female-led superhero film Captain Marvel might get a great new addition. According to Variety, Jude Law is in talks to star in the film, playing the role of Mar-Vell, a Kree scientist and the original Captain Marvel, who serves as a mentor to Carol Danvers as she discovers her new Kree-based powers.

This Academy-award nominated actor is known for many roles, including his role as Watson in 2009’s Sherlock Holmes and its 2011 sequel, and is set to play a young Dumbledore in 2018’s Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of GindelWald. This will be his first role in a superhero film.

Captain Marvel will be directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. The film will be set in the 90’s, focusing on an air force pilot named Carol Danvers, whose DNA gets accidentally fused with that of an alien specimen of the Kree, giving her super-strength, flight and energy manipulation.

The film will star Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, and Samuel L. Jackson portraying his role of Nick Fury, with Rogue One‘s Ben Mendelsohn in talks to play the villain. The film is set to release on March 8, 2019.
