Plot Summary

Continuing where the previous episode left off, the Mutant Underground infiltrate a Trask Industries facility. While in the planning stage, the Reed and Caitlin Strucker inform their children Lauren and Andy about the dangers of the Fenris power.

Meanwhile, Lorna Dane/ Polaris deals with a nightmare she has of the Underground. The new recruit Esme is up to no good. All goes wrong when Sentinel Services Agent Jace Turner has his suspicions and uses his gut to track down the Mutants.

After being given that revelation from the previous episode, we get more high-stakes action. Although, that’s all we will probably gain from outfoX as we do not really get much else that would drive the show forward. Lauren and Andy Strucker learn about their family history and attempt to make use of the Fenris ability, but knowing what their ancestors did, they decide to use this new-founded gift for good purposes instead of bad.

We learn that the anti-Mutant human beings claim to be homo-superior in comparison to those with the X-gene. Jace Turner will stop at nothing to exact his revenge on the race/ species that took the life of his daughter. Maybe there are just some people that will not in any way let the past go.

Overall, this episode of The Gifted was good from start to finish. Viewers get suspicious of Esme and her intentions to take part in missions alongside the Mutant Underground. Agent Turner remains to be this heartless human being with a vindictive personality. We see character development in Lauren and Andy as they learn more about their potential power. The ending scene left the episode on a cliffhanger, leaving fans wanting to know what happens next.

Easter Eggs, References, and Trivia Facts:

  • The Hellfire Club
    • Andreas and Andrea von Strucker were rumored to be a part of this international Mutant organization. The Hellfire Club is a society of Mutants perceived as a fancy upper-class group. In the comics, they often cross paths with the X-Men. Their club consisted of such mutants like Sebastion Shaw, Emma Frost, and Magneto. They were also supposed to get their own show on Fox which was to release this year but plans never moved forward, and instead, the pilot for The Gifted was ordered.

  • Bar scene parallel
    • This scene in the episode in which Lorna Dane/ Polaris and Sonya/ Dreamer use a Trask Industries security guard to gain access into the facility is almost reminiscent of a scene in X2: X-Men United in which Mystique does the same thing in order to break Magneto out of his confinement.
