Love, Action, Bounty hunters, and Clone armies what do they have in common? They are found in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. This is the second installment in the prequels and is next in line for our review as we make our way towards the Star Wars: The Last Jedi being released the 15th.
Lets start this off with a quick overview of the story. Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi successfully stop an assassination attempt on Padmé Amidala, this leads to the two splitting up for two separate task. Kenobi’s task is to locate the person behind the assassination attempt in Kamino, this leads him to discover the clone army being made as well as the bounty hunter Jango Fett. While this is happening Anakin is assigned with escorting Padmé back to Naboo, here Skywalker and Amidala develop a romantic relationship. Eventually the paths of Kenobi and Skywalker me again on the planet of Geonosis. While here the two as well as many other Jedi’s fight off the enemy droids as well as pursue the Sith Lord, Count Dooku. The film ends with Dookus escape and also starts the huge even known as The Clone Wars.
Now to say some positive stuff about the film. One this movie did lead a path to mine and a lot of other peoples favorite cartoon being, Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Another thing this show did well was the fight scenes, the battle at witch Anakin, Padmé, and Obi-Wan are fighting off alien creatures is a big one that sticks out from my child hood. A few other notable action scenes are the fight between Jango Fett and Obi-Wan, the battle between Yoda and Count Dooku, and Anakin vs the Tusken Raiders. Another thing this movie does well is goes more into Anakin’s character as it shows his relationship with Padmé as well as his deeper anger being more developed. And my favorite part of the movie JANGO FETT! Jango is the father of the well known bounty hunter in the original trilogy Boba Fett, and the way his character is done in this film is really well done.
Now the bad stuff. The biggest complaint that most people have with this movie is that it is like a romance movie at times, which isn’t normally a problem but that shouldn’t be the case in a Star Wars title. The movie just focuses too much on the love interest between Anakin and Padmé. Another issue the movie faces is how poor the dialogue is.
“Ani? My goodness you’ve grown”
“So have you. Grown more beautiful I mean. Well, for a Senator I mean”
“Ani you’ll always be that little boy I knew on Tatooine”
The movie also sees a lot of plot holes but honestly all the prequels do so I won’t hold it against it.
Overall this movie does have its flaws. Do I think its the worst Star Wars movie? No. But its definitely not the best. I would recommend seeing this movie though as it does have its good moments, and even some of the bad moments will offer you a good laugh! I’d give this movie a 6/10.
