Stan Lee, one of the most famous names in comics, passed away on November 12, 2018. Here, we take a look at his life, which inspired countless lives and more to come. Thank you, Stan.
Stan Lee was born in New York City in 1922. As a kid, Lee spent his free time reading and enjoying movies, from these his creativity soared. Eventually Lee graduated high school and was seeking work. He began work at “Timely Comics.” From there, Lee picked up on the famous series Captain America, due to the original writers leaving after a financial dispute. From that point on, the history of comic books would change completely.
Lee continued writing and enlisted in the army as a playwrite during World War II, but afterward continued writing at “Timely Comics.” A lot changed in 1954 as the government began censoring comics, which ultimately made most bland and boring. Lee combatted censorship by making a story line that would meet the requirements and spark the interest of readers. This story is known as The Fantastic Four. It was also at this time the name Timely Comics changed to Marvel Comics.
Eventually Lee created popular names in comics such as Spider-Man, Thor, The Hulk, and many more. At this point, Marvel was starting to have an empire under their belt and have Lee right there writing these amazing stories. He went on to help produce TV shows and movies under the Marvel name. Stan Lee is a huge inspiration to many people and it’s clear to see why.
When you have a man that took ideas from his mind and put them on paper, and from that, entertained and inspired people all around, then you know he’s something special. We can learn from Lee’s story and try our hardest and accomplish anything we want and that makes us happy. Rest In Peace, Stan Lee.
