Out with the old, and in with the new. 2017 was a great year for movies, but 2018 is shaping up to be even better. Here are 10 movies you should look forward to in 2018 (the list is in no particular order!)

1. Avengers: Infinity War
Need I say more? You get it, I get it. It is what the last 20 MCU movies have been building toward. Thanos and his children (Black Order and Outsiders) will get to run hands with Earth’s mightiest heroes to collect all of the infinity stones so Thanos can complete his magical bedazzled gauntlet. Are we ready to see who dies and survives? Most likely not. Do we want to? Of course. It is best summed up by fellow Geek Motivation writer Miguel Coelho, “Well I guess, just the fact that we’re seeing all these heroes: Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, Doctor Strange, Spider-man, Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther, all of them together in the same film. It’s a childhood dream come true.”. Avengers: Infinity War release May 4th, 2018.

2. The Incredibles 2
JACK JACK! The ending alone of the first one should warrant the hype for this movie. I am 19 years old. In 2004, my parents took me to my first movie ever. It just so happens to be the first Incredibles. It is one of the main reasons I fell in love with movies and superheroes. Not only myself, but a lot of people are in the same boat when it comes to the first film. So, it is safe to say that the Jack Jack and the rest of the gang have a lot of 19 and 20-year-old kids on the edge of their seats. Not to mention that Disney and Pixar have been killing it with their movies, so there is an already very high expectation for this. You can except the new super suits to hit the big screen on June 15th, 2018!

3. Black Panther
Ryan Coogler is at it again. This man cannot be stopped. It seems that he has the Midas touch, and it isn’t being slowed down with Black Panther. The king of Wakanda will finally make his big screen debut in 2018 and it is shaping to be one of the best films of the year. With a stellar cast from Michael B Jordan and Andy Serkis to Lupita Nyong’o and Chadwick Boseman, we are in for a treat. We could be looking at the best superhero movie of the year with this one (that something to say with a ton of superhero movies at the helm for 2018). Black Panther and all of its glory will be released on February 16th, 2018.

4. Aquaman
Think what you want about Justice League, but one thing is for sure. We are ready for a DC superhero other than Batman, Superman or Wonder Woman to hit the screen. With that being said, all eyes will Jason Momoa, and James Wan adaptation of the Atlantan King come 2018. It is going to be interesting to see how audiences will handle seeing this well-known superhero on the big screen for the first time. Jason Momoa looks like he is in prime form and ready to take on the role! Fellow Geek Motivation writer, Preston Moore states when asked about why he is excited for the him: “I’m excited to see more of Jason Momoa’s take on the character and see all the underwater action scenes. Also, I’m curious as to what James Wan will bring to the film”. Aquaman will be in theaters December 21st, 2018

5. Solo: A Star Wars Story
A lot is not known about this film, but that is why I am so eager to get my hands on it. I love seeing long lasting titles like Star Wars branch off and do new movies within the series that are a bit of a gamble. We do know a little about the cast, with Alan Ehrenreich playing young Han and Donald Glover playing young version of Lando Calrissian. The cast looks to be well put together, and Ron Howard is a great director, so all is well. We do not know anything about the plot and how it will feed into the story of the main star wars universe, but as long as it is a good movie, more star wars are always good. You can get your hands on it come May 25th, 2018.

6. Untitled Deadpool Sequel
Chimichangas, Josh Brolin not playing big purple guy and all the gore you can ask for. The first Deadpool changed the Superhero movie genre forever. It somehow found the balance between staying close to the source material (Deadpool origin, main villains, easter eggs) and branching out and making itself a satire of the genre itself without going too far. The whole gang is returning to the film with some notable editions, mainly Josh Brolin as Wade Wilson’s lying to his yang, Cable. With the same cast, a new story, and a lot more to make fun of and evil doers to lay to waste, how can you not be excited about Deadpool 2? Wade and Cable hit screens June 1st, 2018.

7. Ready Player One
It was only a matter of time before Ernest Cline’s cult classic was turned into a movie. Based on the book that released in 2004, ready player one is a kid who steps into a world called the OASIS. It pretty much severe as a virtual video game haven. Now that’s all I’m going to tell you about the plot. Now, Cline’s book is filled to the brim with references to other video games and geek culture in general… and it was written in 2004. Now crank that up to 11, and that is what the movie is going to be. I don’t think that with our combined geek powers we would be able to find every single easter egg in the movie, but I guess we will have just to wait and see. Did I mention that it is being directed by Steven Spielberg? You can see all Ready Player One and all of its glory March 30th, 2018.

8. Spider-Man: Into The Spider-verse
Miles Morales is finally getting his time to shine. We were blessed towards the end of 2017 with our first look at this beautiful-looking animated movie about the Spider-verse. It will be interesting to see how non-comic book readers will react to this movie, as not only it is a stray from the standard superhero movie archetype and style, but a venture into something that hasn’t been touched yet in superhero movies as a genre. I hope that they get to play with the entire spidey universe and show characters like Spider-Man 2099 and Spider-Gwen, but we will just have to see. The move visual looks stunning and the art style is unique and flamboyant at the same time as if you are reading a good comic book. Except this new version of Spidey to hit screens on December 14th, 2018

9. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
I don’t need to say much, so I’m going to use a quote from fellow Geek motivation writer Miguel Coelho which sums it up perfectly, “Dinosaurs, Chris Pratt and Jeff Goldblum are three things I can’t resist.”. I am exactly in the same boat. It will roar onto screens June 22nd, 2018

10. Venom
Look, like I said before, I love when studios go out and try new things. Sony is trying something new and making a solo Venom movie to start their universe with Spider-Man characters. Tom Hardy is slated to play Eddie Brock, and Woody Harrelson is rumored to be in the film as well. I am ready to see a new superhero/anti-hero hit the screen and if it is good, see how it will shake up the scene. Venom swings onto screens October 5th, 2018.
